Saturday April 1, 2017 - Fort Mill, SC - The Anne Springs Close Greenway will launch its first annual “Love the Greenway” public awareness and community fundraising campaign. The public is invited to participate in special events planned throughout the month of April at the Greenway to promote and celebrate the beautiful 2,100-acre nature preserve and recreational park in Fort Mill, SC. This year’s campaign will feature two family oriented special events on the Greenway – the “Blue Star Blitz” on April 1, a grassroots hike-a-thon fundraiser on the popular 7.2-mile Blue Star trail, and the Greenway’s annual “Earth Day Celebration” on April 22, a free outdoor event celebrating nature with music, entertainment and fun activities for the whole family. Both events will be staged at the Comporium Amphitheater located near the Dairy Barn entrance to the Greenway.

Saturday April 22, 2017 - Gastonia, NC - Gaston County Parks and Recreation will be hosting the 2nd Annual BIKEFEST Sponsored by Gaston County Travel & Tourism on Saturday April 22nd 2017. The event will be held at George Poston Park from 10am until 2pm. George Poston Park is home to over 10 miles of mountain bike trails and was named a National Recreation Trail in 2015. BIKEFEST will feature live music from Stepside Deluxe, food trucks, bike demos, local bike shop vendors, FREE guided trail rides, mountain bike skills clinic, and much more.

Monday June 26, 2017 - Charlotte, NC - Come gain experience on your bike. This camp is geared for folks newer to riding. In this program we will learn about intersections, hazards, speed control, and basic repair. We will play plenty of games and have time to practice riding to parks and fun locations nearby. Typical mileage for First Wheels will be 6 or fewer miles a day.

Monday July 24, 2017 - Charlotte, NC - If you are already comfortable to ride on your own and are ready for new exposure this is the session for you! Our Rolling Ready program is for riders who are interested in expanding their horizons. We will ride between 6-10 miles a day with potential for one longer day. The focus of this program is to reach new destinations, cover greater distances and encounter different styles of riding. As with all our programs, participants will learn mechanics, bike care and safe riding technique.

Monday August 14, 2017 - Charlotte, NC - Our Hard Gear program is similar to the Rolling Ready program except is geared towards older riders who are interested in meeting new people and discovering new places. Participants are also given opportunities to get more in-depth knowledge and experience in mechanics/repair. This program is for riders ready to log some miles on their bikes. Riders can expect to ride 10+ miles on several rides. We will have days with fewer miles.
